THE FOUNDING OF THE BLACKSKY SENATE

Committee Era (Pre-Senate Formation)

Before the Blacksky Senate existed in its current form, its earliest predecessor operated under a simpler designation:

The Committee.

The Committee was established during Blacksky’s formative years as an experimental advisory body intended to distribute discussion, reduce leadership burden, and create structured member participation in shaping the future of Blacksky.

At the time, the institution did not operate under Roman structure and had not yet adopted the modern offices of Advisor and Senator.

The Committee served as an early framework for:
• policy discussion
• structured feedback
• community proposals
• leadership support
• institutional development

One of the principal figures associated with carrying this institution forward was:

Tenure: 2019 — Current

ChiweN joined Blacksky in 2019 and advanced through every stage of leadership before ultimately receiving Founder designation.

During a demanding period of Blacksky’s history, ChiweN helped organize, maintain, and develop the Committee structure through active leadership, discussion, and institutional participation.

Under continued development and later structural reform, the Committee evolved into what would become the Blacksky Senate.

Modern Senate structures—including advisory review, proposal systems, governance discussion, and institutional preservation—trace part of their origin to this early Committee model.
